Girls Day

Sadie's future BFF, Keira Sterry, visited the Island today. The girls bellied up to the beach, where Keira taste tested a fist-full of fresh sand. Later they decided to lunch downtown. A lovely afternoon for two.

Plum Island Adventure: Day 1

We pulled into a gloomy Plum Island after a few steady days of rain. I have the worst head and chest cold imaginable, and cannot speak above a barely audible whisper. But things are looking up! The little studio cottage with sleeping loft I found is one of my best craigslist finds to date. And the clouds broke late afternoon.

We are sandwiched between the ocean and the basin. The beach is steps away. Completely perfect. This is the first family vacation we've really had. Other than my honeymoon, I've never taken a whole week off from work - frightening on many different levels. We have big plans - some friends visiting, a drive to Kennebunkport, perhaps a stop at Hampton Beach. Who knows. The possiblities are endless...

City of Champs

We are getting pretty used to winning all of the time in Boston, which isn't a bad thing. I know everything ebbs and flows, so hopefully Boston manages to stay afloat for a little while longer.

Saturday the masses came out to cheer on the Bruins in a victory parade. We didn't make it downtown, but Sadie still got in the mood. She fashioned Alex's old jersey, as perfect as ever.

Reunited

It's been 10 years already since Alex and I parted ways with Assumption College and the Class of 2001. Instead of going to our private class event in the evening, we went to the family BBQ in the afternoon. Everyone with little kids had the same idea, so we still got to see a lot of familiar faces.

My roommates (Marissa, Maribeth, Stephanie and Jackie) all made their way to Worcester to join me - and Alex's roommate Corey (with daughter Avery in tow) came as well.

We ate, laughed a lot, toured some of the campus upgrades, and let Sadie take the stage to practice her Valedictorian speech. Though instead of speaking words of wisdom, she chose to sing "So This Is Love" by Sleeping Beauty. Pitch perfect.
