Mi Papi

We spent Father's Day as a family, doing very fatherly things...trip to Target to get some super diapers to help our super overnight soaker, and to Lowes for a few bags of play sand for Sadie's crabbie sandbox. All good times in 100% humidity.

Some may have seen my Facebook post about Alex ordering a full sized DQ cake. I kid you not. We were partly saved by the fact that Grandma and Pepere came by after a birthday dinner at the Capital Grill for some dessert. We still have a half a cake left; Alex will demolish it by tomorrow no doubt.

Before bed we leisurely strolled the neighborhood, soaking up the sticky summer air. Sadie wanted in the wagon. Sadie wanted out. She wanted to push. She wanted to drive the golf club around. She wanted to be carried. She wanted to walk. Too many choices for a Sunday night.

Shark Attack

Sadie and I had a ladies day with a trip to the Boston Children's Museum. I scored some free tickets from work and had never been. It was different than expected - we really liked it. The awesome thing is that each time we go, Sadie will grow into the next phase of exhibits that she can participate in. Still, at such a young age she could do so much today.

The day was amazing. We explored, danced, climbed, touched, crawled, made puzzles, ate lunch...then we went to the 3 and under PlaySpace. Sadie was roaming around a play structure and came face to face with Jaws (a little girl with lots of teeth and an anger issue). Suddendly the girls grandmother was waving her arms, speaking in fast Spanish and pointing at Sadie. I didn't get what she was saying. I took a look and there was a big ol' bite mark on her forearm. Sadie didn't make a peep, so I suppose without grandma there, it would have been a mystery to me. My brave little soul.

Upton's 275th

Parade Day in Upton, Mass - Alex's hometown - to celebrate the town's 275th anniversary. Sadie sparkled in her daddy's old little league jersey to show her pseudo-hometown pride. Dad and daughter were joined by Katie, Anne and Danny - who bought her an Elmo from the street cart and helped cover her ears from the loud passersby. Very sweet.

Elmo's World

Sadie has found herself recently Elmo-crazed. We have become the parents that know all of the local PBS stations and the daily schedule of Seseme Street - how did that happen? While we don't allow her much devoted TV time, having Seseme Street on in the morning gives us a little room to breathe when we are trying to shower, dress, dry hair and iron.

Sadie watches in the morning while sitting on our bed, so at any point of the day she'll point the the bed and demand "ELMO!" Luckily for some situatons when it's an off-time, there are episodes on On-Demand. Like tonight for example...just before jumping in the bath we let her watch for a few minutes. She and James were way into the Ernie sing along.

Le Artist

Seventeen months today and more defiant by the hour. I say don't put it in your mouth and the little red devil pops up on her shoulder and tells her to just lick it. Everytime. Without fail.
