Happy Memorial Day! Sadie ventured to the Cape (oh-so-New England of her) to kick off the summer season. She was able to enjoy the fruits of Cape Cod much more this summer - as last summer she barely knew what was going on.

There are certain things that Alex and I each want to share with Sadie, things that we did as kids that are attached to happy memories. Alex got one from his check list when I finally obliged to a trip to the Pancake Man in Yarmouth. I had seen it a zillion times, driving along 28 - but had never been inside. Pancakes, eggs and home fries galore, it was a lot of food.

Special to note...throw it up on the resume...Sadie learned to eat with a fork at the Pancake Man. All by herself, she stabbed pieces of pancake and egg - and needed the second hand to guide it to her mouth. Tada!! (as she would say).

Sunday was also a picture perfect beach day. Mid 80's, light breeze, not a cloud in the sky. Sadie looked way-rad in her surfer girl swim suit. The scene took a little warming up to. She didn't know what to do with her "dirty" hands once sand had stuck to them. All of the dips and divots on the beach were a challenge for unbalanced. And the ocean was a no-go in her mind (the seaweed was a little thick and intimidating). She was hitting her stride before we had to cave for naptime.

What to do with a toddler at the Cape in the early evening? Especially one who doesn't like to be contained in a car or stroller? Hit the mini golf. It went much better than expected (I was envisioning fishing her out of the waterfall displays). Alex and I played very little golf for the $16 bucks we paid - but the laughs we had were all worth it. We'd hit the balls toward the hole and Sadie would chase after them, then horde them.

We had hit up the same mini golf/arcade area (Skull Island) the day before for batting cage entertainment, and Sadie made friends with the resident gorilla statue. When we went back the next night for golf she was out of her mind excited to see him. She now can imitate what a gorilla "says". She pounds her chest and gives a little "ooo, ooo, ooo".
