As part of her Christmas gift, we took Sadie to see the Ice Capades in Providence a few days ago. It was the Disney Treasure Trove show that told the stories of The Little Mermaid, Lilo & Stitch, and Peter Pan. She LOVED every second of it, sitting on the edge of her seat, as if the action couldn't come fast enough. It's always brilliant to see her excited to that extent - it just makes life amazing.
Knowing she'd get a kick out of ice skating, she also got some skates from Nana and Papa for Christmas too. We took her to the outdoor rink at Patriot Place in Foxboro (and just our luck, Matt Light of the Patriots was there with his family too - pretty cool). Sadie prepped us all day with grand illusions of doing professional tricks that lifted her in the air - as seen at the Ice Capades. She's lucky I can skate upright - particularly at this rink where it seemed like everyone was a newbie. It was like watching a herd of fawns trying to walk for the first time. Wild limbs everywhere.
As for Sadie, she couldn't stand up to save her life. Good thing Alex is a pro skater after years and years of hockey. He was able to hold her between his knees and dangle her legs above the ice. The few times that I helped by taking her hand, she'd flip out because I wasn't going fast enough. My daughter the critic.
