Honk for Gronk

The last time the Patriots played in the Superbowl was February 2008, just about a year from when Sadie entered our world. She's lucky not to have been a part of that terrible experience. A dark cloud hung over our house for weeks. Replays of that game still can't be viewed without raw emotion coming back to the surface.

Fast forward to 2012 and we are in the same situation. Our beloved Patriots are up for some revenge or redemption (depending on which way you look at it) against Eli Manning and the NY Giants. Game time is in two hours and the tension in the house is getting deeper.

On Friday kids (and adults for that matter) had "spirit day" to show their Pats Pride. Sadie had grown out of her logo-ed gear, so I scoured Target, Walmart and Kohl's for a little something. Sadly I came up empty handed. Yet, by the grace of God there was a little roadside tent on Thursday night that I passed on my way home. Sadie was now a proud owner of a Superbowl XLVI t-shirt with Gronkowski's name emblazoned on the back (her favorite player, if you ask her).

Earlier this week Sadie had been sent home with a slight fever, but she was starting to turn a corner on Friday. We suited her up and psyched her for a football party at school. Little did we know about the 24 hour fever rule and were turned away at the door. All her tiny hopes and dreams of a party were quickly crushed. She still can't stop talking about it.

We've still got plenty of use of the shirt. She's been flexing her muscles and practiced her tackling on Moosey this morning. Talk abut a good sport, this dog is game MVP.
