Teenage Dream

Sadie is clearly ahead of her time. If she's grumpy, you just have to tell her she's going to a party and that attitude does a 180. Last night, even, we went to a "football party" at Alex's co-worker's house. When we got there, she took a look at the 5 adults in the room and said "this is it?" Yes, a hint of disappointment but soon enough she was rolling around on the floor, trying to ice skate in her socks and begging for candy corn on the counter.

One of her favorite pastimes of late is having dance parties. It must be dark and the lights must be turned off in the house. Pitch dark, with the exception of the Elmo glowstick toy that came from some ice capades type event that we, as parents, must wave around like we're at a rave. She likes the music loud too.

This weekend she also took a stab at putting on her own make-up. I don't wear much at all, a little mascara and I've just been experimenting with subtle eyeshadow lately - but I've never been the foundation, powder, red lipstick, cat-eye type at all. Let's just say that during proms and my wedding, I was hesitant to wear anything because I thought it would look like I was trying too much. Sadie smeared it on like no tomorrow. Good thing I only use light colors.
